The LEHM 2008, the 5th international conference and trade fair on building with earth, will take place in Koblenz, Germany, and covers a wide variety of topics, ranging from case studies of current earth building projects, new technological developments in building with earth and the establishment of norms, information networks, training and education in earth building, and current research and problems in earth building practice around the world. The confererence closes with a choice of field trips in the earth building region around Koblenz.
Every four years the Dachverband Lehm e.V., the German Association for Building with Earth, organises an international conference and trade fair on building with earth in a different earth building region in Germany together with an excursion in the region. In addition to organising a high-profile conference programme, a central aspect is the presentation of new innovations in earth building products and technologies through a trade fair that takes place parallel to the conference.
We are pleased to announce that the LEHM 2008, the 5th international conference and trade fair on building with earth, organised in cooperation with the Landesmuseum Koblenz and the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts will take place at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz from the 10-12 October 2008.
The response to the “Call for Papers” has been overwhelming with numerous high-quality submissions from around the world. We have attempted to include as many interesting submissions as possible in the conference programme and an extensive poster session. This year for the first time, practice-related contributions will be presented in the form of a Trade Fair Forum.

The full programme can seen on the conference homepage. The speakers, including a number of internationally renowned figures in earth architecture, come from Austria, Spain, France, Germany and the UK, Ghana, India, Iran and South Korea as well as from the USA.

Conference Languages
German and English (Simultaneous translation). The conference proceedings will available from the beginning of the conference and will contain all contributions available at the time of publishing in German and English.
Conference location
The LEHM 2008 conference takes place at the historic Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz. This historic location stands high above the junction of the Rhine and Mosel rivers and is part of the Central Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage site.

The full conference tickets and day tickets include the conference proceedings, tea and coffee breaks and lunch buffet as well as free entry to the trade fair.
